Repost revit Clinic - eTransmit for Revit User Survey

Our friendly folks with the eTransmit for Revit team asked that we post a little survey. If you have been using the eTransmit technology preview over on labs for Revit, this is for you!

Greetings!

We released the eTransmit for Revit Technology Preview almost a month ago. Since then, we’ve received a lot of great feedback and a number of suggestions for improvements.

Now we’d like to know which of these suggestions would be most useful to you. If you’ve been using the eTransmit for Revit Technology Preview, we’d appreciate it if you could participate in our user survey. It will take you about 20 minutes and is available here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/eTransmitForRevit

The data we collect will help us understand how you are using this technology preview and what is and isn’t working for you. In particular, as part of the survey we are inviting you to rank all of the suggestions we’ve received to date.

This survey is intended for people who have already tried out the eTransmit for Revit Technology Preview. If you haven’t tried it out yet, it’s not too late – you can download the technology preview from Autodesk Labs and the survey will remain open until at least mid-August.

Thanks in advance for your help! If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at:

Re-post Revitit.com - Parking

Parking in Revit?

You are probably wondering why we will be talking about Parking? This Parking is a Windows 7 features that (we believe) only happens on Intel i5 & i7 CPU Quad Core. It basically is a way for Windows to control power. It will put some CPU in “parking” mode if they are not needed. Thus reducing the power consumption but also… the power itself. What’s the point of having a Quad Core if Windows doesn’t use it to the fullest?
Since the 2012 platform now supports multi-threading on some tasks it would be nice to harness all the power of our machines for those tasks.
Here are the results of a non-scientific test conducted today (Open with audit a 2011 file and resave it. The file is fairly large and has several linked file in it)
With Parking enabled With Parking disabled

20:52 mins 17:47 mins
Basically on those features alone we seem to get close to a 15% gain in performance.
Now… how do I disable the Parking feature.(Use at your own risk and make sure you backup the registry before)
  • Open the Registry Editor
    • SNAGHTML29033b
  • Run a search for that key : 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583
    • image
  • Once you found one you want to make both ValueMax & ValueMin to 0
    • image
  • To do so, double-click the value and set it to 0 then click ok
    • SNAGHTML2df279
  • Then go to Edit – Find Next and set the value to 0 again
    • image
    • Repeat until you get the following message
      • SNAGHTML2f5fdb
      • Click OK, Close the registry editor and restart Windows
To make sure it’s deactivated open the Windows Task Manager and click on Resource Monitor. Go to the CPU tab to see if any are “parked
We would love to hear any feedback from you guys.

Revit Clinic Repost - Revit 2012 Project Neon Rendering Service Error Message

Revit 2012 Project Neon Rendering Service Error Message

Quick scenario for anyone who receives the following error message when attempting to render online with Project Neon for Revit 2012:
Neon
A problem occurred.  The rendering service could not complete your request.
The following process should resolve this behavior:
1.  Sign out of Revit 2012.  Verify this also signs you out of Project Neon by attempting to click the Web Services > My Render Gallery option.
2.  Clear your web browser’s cache \ temporary internet files.  For example, here is the process for Chrome and Internet Explorer.
3.  Sign-in to Project Neon first, by attempting to Render Online:
SignInNeon
If prompted after, you can sign back into Revit 2012.
4.  Make sure you use the same login for both Revit 2012 and Project Neon.  By logging out, clearing the browser cache, and then logging into Project Neon first it should resolve the message.
If this does not resolve the issue please let us know!
